The Professional Practice Leader (PPL) is responsible for promoting and ensuring the utilization of leading practices for their profession using evidence based best practice, data and regulatory guidelines. The Professional Practice leader is a key consultant for discipline specific issues within Providence Healthcare, and across Unity Health Toronto. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Unity Health Toronto.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Identifying new regulatory practice standards and guidelines with relevant recommendations for changes in practice;
- Monitoring clinical staff compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory college requirements;
- Supporting the development and sustainability of directives, policy and guidelines
- Advising and supporting recruitment, hiring, orientation and ongoing evaluation:

- Accountability in the mentorship of new staff;
- Supporting interprofessional models of care and education;
- Representing their discipline in internal and external arenas;
- Addressing and resolving staffing performance issues related to practice through learning plans and development;
- Embedding innovation into practice;
- Ensuring continuing professional education opportunities are available to staff
- Arranging and coordinating clinical placements and other student education opportunities;
- Collaboration in student performance management issues and recommendations

**QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Licensed/registered member of their regulatory college (or association where applicable) in good standing;
- At least 5 years of profession-specific experience relevant to Providence Healthcare;
- Demonstrated supporter of team-based practice and solid understanding of interprofessional practice and collaboration;
- Strong leadership skills and decision making skills;
- Proven track record of success in a teaching/mentoring role;
- Understanding and support of research activities;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and coordination skills;
- Very good attendance record;
- Good performance record.
