**About the Organization**:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is a regional social planning and development organization which provides innovative programs and service to Indigenous communities in Simcoe County, Muskoka, and York Region, including wholistic Health Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Primary Care Team. As an Interprofessional Health Care Team, Mamaway team members provide primary care, mental health, traditional healing and health promotion services for Indigenous communities. We provide wholistic services in clinic locations, community and in partnership with mainstream service partners.

**About the Role**:
“Life promotion encourages people to strengthen a connection to land, community, self, and spirit, equipping them to live a long prosperous life.” (Thunderbird Partnership Foundation).Life promotion activities at Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin are integrated throughout the health and community initiatives offered by the full Indigenous interprofessional primary care team. Life promotion activities include, but are not limited to, workshops, cultural workshops, community events, teachings, service connections, media activities, and land-based programming. With the goal of promoting connections, the Life Promoter will be a “community connector” working closely with their internal team and Indigenous Service Organizations throughout the region to increase access to programming. As part of the full continuum of life promotion services, the Life Promoter will offer Gathering Our Bundles programming developed by BANAC in collaboration with the community health team and other life promotion initiatives in the region.

As part of the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Community Health Team, the Life Promoter will use excellent coordination and planning skills to facilitate and collect data on multiple initiatives and workshops. This includes but is not limited to the coordination of registration, teams, spaces, event logistics, and supply ordering. The role has an important responsibility to ensure program evaluations are administered and that data is stored as required by the agency. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with other members of the Community Health Team to support wholistic programming in the region.

**What You Bring**:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant area such as: health promotion, community development, social services work, or similar. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience supporting community initiatives.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in frontline service delivery, program planning and project coordination with Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of life promotion from Indigenous perspectives and cultural approaches to address suicide
- Knowledge, sensitivity and awareness of the history, culture, and unique needs of the Indigenous population
- Possess strong planning, organizational, and resource management skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills, experience with workshop teaching or similar teaching
- Able to work within a flexible schedule, which may require working on evenings or weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

**Information About Working at BANAC Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin**:

- Work is typically performed in clinic, office and community settings.
- Regular travel to meetings and communities, will be required - vehicle an asset
- Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement
- Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar.

Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:

- Worksite location
- Valid C.P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector
