**Our Village of Sandalwood Park, located in Brampton, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time BSO - Recreation Team Member.**

**Our new BSO Recreation Consultant will**:

- **Have a 4-year Degree in Therapeutic REC or a minimum 2-year Diploma Therapeutic REC**:

- **Eligible for membership with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO)** or A registered
Recreation Therapist (R/TRO or R/TRO DIP) and/or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Have **minimum of 3 years’ experience** delivering therapeutic recreational programs to seniors
- Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of residents and support Neighbourhood Teams as required
- Work collaboratively to develop a standardized referral process for the BSO Therapeutic
Recreation Program, providing outreach support to Long Term Care Homes (LTCH) as needed
- Develop, deliver and evaluate recreational therapy activities including special events ensuring
programs and activities meet established policy, physician’s orders, and the resident’s plan of care
- Create and sustain a plan of care based on individual strengths, needs and the interests of each resident
- Maintain timely, accurate and complete records in line with the College of Therapeutic
Recreation of Ontario’s guidelines
- Identify and develop appropriate therapeutic recreation goals and interventions for identified
residents; i.e. P.I.E.C.E.S. Canada
- Utilize standardized tools in the areas of assessment, implementation and evaluation of
residents needs and programming performance
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement programs
- Lead, facilitate and participate in local in-service programs, seminars, resident care conferences
and workshops including mandatory participation in BSO Network functions
- A valid Canadian Driver’s License and the ability to support residents, their families and team
members across a large geographical area

**It would be an asset if our new BSO Recreation Consultant**:

- PIECES Canada registration-recommended
- GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach); Mental Health First Aid and Crisis training
- Other recreation modalities i.e. art therapy, music therapy or drumming
