Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) is seeking a qualified Public Works Landscape / Parks Worker to join our Public Works and Engineering team on a regular full time. The Public Works Landscape/Parks Worker will assist the Public Works Foreman with the maintenance and upkeep of Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) community buildings, landscaping and parks maintenance and grounds by providing housekeeping of sports fields, parks, roads, sidewalks and facilities and grounds keeping.

**Requirements**:

- Job‐related experience including operating small equipment and mowers used in parks and landscaping maintenance duties
- Maintaining flower/garden beds, weeds, shrubs and trees
- Ability to perform parks and landscape maintenance tasks independently and requiring some judgement
- Ability to operate parks maintenance equipment including string‐line trimmers, power edgers, lawnmowers (push and ride-on) and hedge trimmers safely and effectively
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, and demonstrate excellent listening skills
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public in a courteous, professional and effective manner
- Ability to work cooperatively and amicably in a team environment with a safety first attitude
- Conducting and maintaining a regular inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies
- Conducting inspections of asset conditions as requested
- Ensuring that regular maintenance is conducted on all TFN vehicles

**Assist in maintaining TFN grounds in good repair by**:

- Ensuring TFN office garbage is on the curb for collection day
- Cutting brush and trees in ditches to ensure good vision for traffic
- Maintaining lawn/grounds within the compounds of the TFN offices
- Ensuring that the TFN Cemetery grounds are maintained
- Ensuring that cleanliness of the Tsawwassen First Nation grounds and buildings are maintained
- Operating snow removal vehicles and machinery

**Other duties include**:

- Preparing and submitting all paperwork required by the Public Works Department (time sheets, etc.)
- Staying knowledgeable and current on regulations and procedures relating to equipment and buildings
- Set up grounds and facilities for events, and help with organizing and clean-up after events in coordination with the Facilities team
- Participate in annual Spring Clean-up on Tsawwassen Lands
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Landscaping and Parks maintenance
- Related experience performing maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of maintenance business processes and best practices
- Strong organizational and effective time management skills
- Flexibility in managing changing priorities and ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to perform heavy outdoor manual work in all weather conditions
- Physically capable of carrying out job duties and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office suite an asset
- Knowledge of road and sidewalk maintenance is considered an asset
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and the ability to drive a service truck
- Must provide a Driver’s Abstract
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (TFN will provide and update as needed)
- WHMIS training and certificate (TFN will provide and update as needed)

**Working Conditions**
- Heavy lifting and manual labour is involved at times
- Works outdoors in all types of weather
- Planned and unplanned evening and weekend work when required, such as snow removal
