Summer Arts Programming (TOROS)
**Location**: North Bay, West Ferris Secondary School
**Position Description**:
The Director is responsible for the total concept of the production and is the lead visionary for the artistic presentation of the show. The Director is responsible to the Principal of Summer School to deliver a polished production by opening night in a manner that is financially responsible.
The Director is responsible for selecting a show in consultation with the Principal of Summer School and Producer. The Director is responsible for interpreting the script, conducting relevant research, casting, scheduling rehearsals, creating a prop list, and maintaining regular communication with the Producer, among other duties as they arise.
The Director works with the other key members of the team (which may include the choreographer, music and set designer etc.) to communicate their overall vision, support decision making that aligns with their overall concept for the show and solve problems collaboratively as they might arise.
**Applicants will need to bring their top 2-3 choices on which show they would like to direct this summer along with some reasoning and/or ideas around those choices
**Qualifications**:
Experience in the direction of a musical theatre production (an asset)
Experience in the direction of a musical theatre production
Experience in previous TOROS productions and/or related musical theatre
Experience working collaboratively with a producer, cast and staff
Proven ability to work within a budget
Excellent communication skills
Superior organizational ability
Demonstrated leadership ability
Excellent ability to work as a member of an energetic and positive team
Ability to multi-task and take on other duties as assigned
**Wage**: to be determined at time of interview/offer
**Hours**: The contract will span the length of the production with most work occurring during the month of July and the first week of August. This includes some necessary preparatory hours occurring before the official commencement of Summer School to ensure adequate planning time. Preparatory work is to take place February through June.
