The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the
territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic
individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:
**UUMAJUIT WARDEN**
(PERMANENT, PART-TIME POSITION)
Under the Supervision of the Uumajuit Program Coordinator, the responsibilities of the Warden
will include, without being limited to:
- Assist in the realization of the Nunavik Wildlife Protection Plan objectives and the
Nunavik Aboriginal Aquatic Resources and Oceans Management Agreement objectives;
- Patrol the Nunavik territory so as to ensure that the regulations and wildlife exploitation
modalities are respected (licenses, rights, etc.);
- Assist wildlife protection officers during verifications done on residents, temporary
residents, and visitors in Nunavik;
- Verify hunting and fishing access rights on the territory;
- Inform wildlife protection officers of reported or observed poaching activities;
- Assist the wildlife protection officers in cases of disruption of fish and/or wildlife habitat;
- Inform the population of applicable wildlife regulations;
- Participate with the wildlife protection officers in the education programs for students;
- Ensure communication between residents, temporary residents, and visitors in Nunavik;
- Work with the Technicians to ensure that their tasks are completed including
- collaboration with DFO Fisheries Officers and Environment Canada Officers;
- Collect weekly observation and catch data (i.e. sighted, landed, loss and wounded) of
- marine mammals: Belugas, walrus, seals, narwhals, bowhead whales and killer whales;
- Provide patrol and weekly reports;
- Perform other related duties, as required by the Supervisor.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in wildlife protection, fisheries conservation or
equivalent; traditional land skills will be considered as equivalent experience;
- Demonstrated experience in renewable resource harvesting, hunting, fishing, trapping
and traditional land skills;
- Sound moral character;
- Never have been found guilty of, or pleaded guilty to, an offence under the Criminal
- Code;
- Available to undertake patrols and to travel within Nunavik;
- Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages:
- Inuktitut, English, and French
- Willing to undergo training.

**Salary**:Minimum: $39 811/year; maximum $64 517/year (Class 5)
**Benefits: Calculated on a pro rata basis**:
Cost of living differential: Minimum of $11 834/year
Food allowance: Minimum of $4 274/year
Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually
Simplified Pension Plan: 6% employer, 4% employee

Vacation: 20 days annually
Statutory Holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.
