The Indigenous Languages Coordinator provides educational expertise in the development of provincial policies, standards, programs, and resources to support reconciliation and the preservation and revitalization of BC Indigenous languages. The position works across the ministry, directly with the First Nations Education Steering Committee, Métis Nation BC and with other education partners to ensure infusion of Indigenous content and pedagogies in curriculum, assessments, teaching and learning resources/materials.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field, such as a linguistics, Indigenous studies, or humanities.
- Experience in the following areas; this experience may have been gained in a work, community or volunteer-based setting:

- conducting research, analysing findings and presenting recommendations to partners or senior management (including Indigenous and/or public sector);
- Working with Indigenous communities. Preference may be given to working with Indigenous communities in BC;
- developing, implementing and revising programs and policies;
- consulting, collaborating and working with multiple partners, organizations or communities with different interests and priorities; planning, coordinating, managing, and evaluating multiple projects.
- Preferences may be given to applicants:

- Eligible for membership in the BC College of Teachers and/or graduate work in an education related field.
- With directly related experience in the K-12 education sector (public schools, First Nations operated schools or independent schools). Who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit). (this information will only be retained as part of the competition process and will not be used for other purposes)**About this Position**:
This is a temporary opportunity until December 31, 2025.
This position can be based out of Vancouver or Victoria.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
