Leduc Assisted Transportation Services (LATS) Operator

$26.83 - $33.54 per hour (currently under review)

What is this Opportunity?

We are currently recruiting for a Casual LATS Operator for our Public Transportation department. Casual Operators cover permanent Operators who are on vacation, off on leave or off for an appointment and are scheduled or called in as necessary.

The LATS Operator reports directly to the Accessible Transit Supervisor. This position is responsible for the safe transport, from door-to-door, of seniors and individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, within the City of Leduc.

What will you do?- Operation of a LATS vehicle, transporting clients in a safe and responsible manner- Maintain contact with supervisor and Dispatch via radio and cell phone as required during shift- Maintain fare products for sale to clients, and an accurate accounting of sales- Maintain work records, preparing reports, etc.- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections, cleaning and fueling of vehicles- Reporting of any mechanical issues to Supervisor and Fleet Services- Maintain certifications and attend training as required

What do you need to succeed?- High School Diploma- Valid Standard First Aid certificate- Valid Class 4 Alberta vehicle operator’s license; non-probationary with no more than 3 demerits- Formal training/experience in defensive driving and/or public relations- Excellent customer service and public relations experience- Experience in working with individuals with physical and/or cognitive delays- This job is physically demanding, and operators are routinely required to lift up to 20 kilograms.- The ability to work in all types of weather and road conditions.
