**About the role**:
SPM Oil & Gas currently has an opening for a **_Machinist IV _**. The Machinist IV role is responsible for setting up and operating conventional lathes, mills, vertical and horizontal boring mills to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow the sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes and grinders.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls or control media as required.
- Verify compliance of finished workpiece to specifications
- Set up and operate the machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
- Ability to identify worn tooling, installing replacement inserts, grinding wheels and carbide cutters on equipment and maintains daily PM as required.
- Ability to identify quality-related issues.
- Demonstrates versatility across multiple machine types.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**What You Will Have**:

- Journeyman Machinist ticket, Provincial Trade Certification and/or Red Seal. Qualified Machinist apprentices will also be considered.
- 3+ Years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have basic knowledge of Critical Safety Devices and their purpose.
- Ability to accurately complete all work-related documents.
- Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery.
- Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Observe safety and security procedures.
