Project Official Iii

The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for the full-time position of Project Official III - Technical Support in the Development Services and Engineering Department.

**DUTIES**
- Inspect construction sites by observing contractor’s operations to ensure compliance in accordance with plans, specifications and materials outlined in the contract.
- Monitor contractor adherence to their quality control plan, traffic control plan, and erosion and sediment control plan and ensure they meet provincial legislation and contract requirements.
- Ensure contractors adhere to and follow all legislated safety regulations and guidelines including confined space entry, traffic control, personal protective equipment, etc.
- Arrange for the testing of asphalt, soil and aggregate and ensure compaction tests are carried out by independent consultants as required. Coordinate water testing and shutdowns. Ensure the specifications as outlined in the contract are met.
- Preparation of plans, drafting/design and calculations as per City standards and policy.
- Maintain daily inspector’s diary for record and control purposes related to contractor operations including the use of materials, labour and equipment.
- Prepare progress payments for construction projects, perform quantity measurements and calculations.
- Assist with municipal surveys, traffic field work and calculations and confined space entry.
- Liaison with property owners adjunct to construction projects.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Two-year Engineering Technician Diploma.
- OACETT Certified Technician designation preferred.
- Minimum one-year related work experience in the Civil Engineering field.
- Experienced with municipal construction supervision, inspection, site surveys and layout.
- Knowledge in municipal engineering/design and traffic engineering.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff as well as outside agencies and the general public in a positive and professional manner.
- Must possess a valid Class G Ontario drivers’ licence with access to a reliable vehicle.

**Salary**: $28.64-$34.18 per hour
