**Job Summary**
**Responsibilities**
As a Theatre Manager, you will:
- Develop, implement and review the Theatre's overall business plan
- Work with Executive Director to create long-range theatre capital plan
- Plan and book theatre productions considering audience appeal, balance of performance genres, success of previous performances and new opportunities
- Monitor and evaluate the delivery of the theatre program to ensure it is aligned with the business plan and operating within budget
- Acting technical director: ability to read and understand technical riders, advancing of shows including organizing backline
- Knowledge of hospitality riders
- Develop and manage annual department budget
- Ensure staff is in place and supervise set-up of lighting, sound, risers, and other special production requirements for all events, performances and rehearsals
- Maintain inventory of all stage and production equipment
- Negotiate with product vendors for purchase or rental of production and stage equipment
- Maintain proper records of events and necessary maintenance
- Knowledge of the union environment, familiarity with the union contract, ability to schedule casual union staff appropriately
- Coordinate with other staff to ensure maintenance, capital improvements, and restoration projects related to the theatre get completed appropriately
- Manage all theatre rentals including liaising with rental clients, creating and maintaining contracts, and providing necessary, timely information to the bookkeeper for invoicing and receiving payments
- Liaise with clients, ensuring they are properly supported and oriented upon their arrival
- Ensure that payroll information for theatre staff is provided in a timely manner to the accounting department
- Provide accurate, timely revenue/expense reports to the ED & bookkeeper for each performance
- Develop and ensure staff compliance with theatre safety policies and municipal, provincial and federal requirements, occupancy loads, fire regulations and WorkSafeBC policies
- Provide marketing materials from clients/agents to marketing staff in a timely fashion and provide input on marketing activities for upcoming productions
- Work with the Executive Director to develop partnerships with local industry and communities, educational organizations, relevant bodies and the public to encourage engagement in artistic activities
- Represent our organization at industry events. Network with other theatre managers and producers. Stay informed about industry developments and artist availability
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be added at the Executive Director’s discretion
**Working hours**
Due to theatre opening times, working hours are generally varied. You'll be expected to carry out weekend and evening work as part of your usual schedule.

**Work Experience**
Previous work experience in an arts setting such as:
- Voluntary or paid work at a theatre
- Membership of a theatre group
- Experience of performing in or managing stage or musical productions, either on the artistic or technical side
- Experience in an arts management role
- Other experience as appropriate
**Compensation and Benefits**
- $70k-75k to start, depending upon experience
