**The role**:
Grand Valley Fortifiers is looking for a **Plant Production Assistant** to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario. Working within a team, your work will ensure that feed supplement production goes smoothly. Starting with measuring and pouring ingredients, all the way through manufacture and shipping, you’ll follow standard procedures that result in a consistent, high-quality product. Succeeding here will require more than a strong individual effort. As a member of a small team, you’ll maintain open communication and share ideas to improve both processes and teamwork.
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our production facility at 486 Main Street, Cambridge Ontario.** In this role you will work on the afternoon shift**. Regular working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 3:30 pm to 12:00 am.
**What you'll do**:
- Ensure all incoming ingredients are set up, weighed, sampled and entered into inventory
- Ensure stock is inventoried to proper levels
- Rotate stock properly (FIFO)
- Ensure orders are manufactured on time and shipped on schedule
- Ensure all manufactured products are labelled correctly
- Follow all procedures pertaining to HACCP, CFIA and other regulations
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, and work safely in all aspects of the job
- Report accidents, safety concerns and errors to Lead Hand and/or Production Manager immediately
- Attend all meetings that pertain to the manufacturing area (production, training, safety and town hall meetings)
- Suggest ways to control/reduce costs or improve efficiency
**Your background includes**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience/knowledge of basic farming practices and principles
- Experience operating a Forklift required
- Valid G Driver’s License
- Ability to work shift work
- Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 55 lbs. and perform physical work for substantial periods
- Ability to perform physical work for substantial periods
- Excellent time management, organization and housekeeping skills
- Keen eye for detail and completing tasks with a high level of accuracy
