The Eating Disorder Day Treatment Program Psychologist is a key member of the multidisciplinary team who provides assessment, treatment (structured group and individual therapy) and consultation services in a manner consistent with KHSC’s (HDH Site) Mission, Vision and Values and that reflects the core values of Patient and Family Centred Care (dignity, respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration); the Psychologist will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and ethical values as defined by their College; participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives. This position is primarily assigned to HDH-Mental Health and Addiction Services, with service provided to the Eating Disorder Day Treatment Program, and based in the community at 190 Wellington Street.
- This position is primarily clinical with emphasis on treatment interventions utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced (CBT-E), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). The psychologist is further required to complete cognitive assessments as indicated.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides assessment, diagnosis and evidence based treatment of eating disorders
- Evaluates, using comprehensive intelligence, achievement, aptitude, and organicity tests, clients who are referred to the program and interprets results
- Initiate appropriate time-limited individual and group psychotherapeutic interventions, providing evidence-based therapies for eating disorders, such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced (CBT-E), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Interviews clients in a clinical setting and studies medical and social case histories
- Communicates with community mental health agencies, including schools, regarding assessments and recommendations specific to their assessments
- Contributes to the development of treatment and discharge plans
- Reviews client progress and recommends updates to the treatment plan as necessary
- Documents and presents all related client information
- Prepares recommendations, including instructions, for the client and family members
- Utilizes various psychological techniques to effect improved adjustments in clients
- Recommends client referrals, where necessary
- Perform duties in accordance with relevant legislation and organizational policies and procedures
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of continuous quality improvement initiatives, and assists in the operation of program evaluation activities
- Promote a work environment that is in accordance with KHSC Policies
- Participate in hospital and program committees and task groups, as assigned
- Teaches, supervises, and evaluates psychology students, supports clinical learning experiences of students of other health professions
- Prepares, delivers, and evaluates educational activities, as assigned
- Conducts research in accordance with the program mandate
- Assists in the planning and operation of activities for conferences
- Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ph.D. in Psychology from a University recognized by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
- Current certificate of pennanent registration as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
- Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Capable of coping in a physically and mentally demanding work environment
- Able to function independently as well as interdependently
- Experience with facilitating learning experiences for individuals and groups.
- Experience practicing in an academic health science center and fostering knowledge creation and dissemination
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to schedule time, prioritize, handle multiple activities, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, support staff, students, and clients and their families
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability in dealing effectively with adolescents and adults with severe mental illness, and their family members
- Proven good attendance record
- Effective consultative and collaborative skills that are sensitive to the interpersonal needs of other team members
- Proven ability to attend work regularly
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check required
