**Position Description**:
We are currently seeking a casual Orthoptist to join the Ophthalmology Clinic. Our Orthoptists provide excellent clinical care to children and families and are leaders and resources in the Ophthalmology Clinic, visual electrophysiology service, and with the inter-professional team.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**:

- Facilitate team-specific ophthalmic care and the smooth flow of patients through the Ophthalmology Clinic.
- Perform oculovisual and orthoptic assessment when required.
- Cross-train in various occular testing and imaging modalities.
- Provide evidence-based care, integrate research and practice.
- Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and the dissemination of new knowledge.
- Assess patient/family needs related to the relevant procedure.
- Provide appropriate ophthalmiclorthoptic assessment.
- Analyze and interpret complex data/test results.
- Write patient reports to referring physicians.
- Assess, evaluate, and revise the interdisciplinary plan of care, in collaboration with family and health care team to ensure that patient and family needs are met.
- Monitor and initiate efficiency of clinical service.
- Participate in the development and implementation of evidence-based practice standards/guidelines and protocols.
- Participate in departmental/hospital/university programs related to teaching.
- Educate children, families, students, and health care professionals regarding testing procedures.
- Identify issues related to patient flow and administrative processes and take the initiative to problem-solve independently or in collaboration with others, including the Manager, Ophthalmology Clinic, to improve efficiencies/processes.

**Here's What You'll Need**:

- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
- Graduate of an accredited Orthoptic program.
- Canadian Orthoptic Council certification.
- Canadian Orthoptic Society (TCOS) membership.
- Experience in clinical ophthalmology specialty preferred.
- Pediatric experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated initiative along with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration.
