Position Title RAP Intake Worker/Administrative Assistant

**This is a Bargaining Unit Position**

**Scope**

The on-call staff is responsible for providing immediate and essential settlement assistance to Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) from various ethnic groups at the airport. The On-call Settlement counselor is expected to work cooperatively with others; demonstrate flexibility in organizing work; show a high degree of initiative, discernment, and resourcefulness; must have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate thoughtfulness in decision-making to assist refugee families

The on-call hours are not guaranteed and can vary from 0 - 40 hours per week.

**Responsibilities**
- Support refugee arrivals at the airport including escorting, interpreting, and supporting in the completion of declarations and other paperwork
- Assist refugees to go through CBSA, IRCC, and PHAC
- Responsible for arranging transportation to the final destination
- Provide comprehensive information to refugees about POE and RAP services
- Assist with providing administrative support to program management & other staff
- Maintain working relations with agency programs and partner agencies
- Effectively track services in internal and external databases, provide accurate reporting for the Supervisor
- Actively participate in the professional development initiatives
- Must meet targets set by Senior Programs Coordinator
- Provide accurate reporting to the supervisor
- Acknowledge client needs with respect and empathy
- Must be willing and able to work on flexible schedules on an as need basis, evenings and weekend work is required
- Perform any other related duties as required

**Qualifications**
- A degree/diploma in Community, Social Work, or Counselling/ a combination of experience and education that fulfills the requirements
- Three years of experience working with immigrant communities
- Second language is an asset (Tigrinya, Arabic, Dari/Pashto)
- Language proficiency certificate identifying the fluency of English and target language skills (for ATIO members present the certificate of membership)
- Knowledge of settlement and resettlement services and of the ethnic-specific programs and services in the GTA
- Familiarity with issues facing newcomers in Canadian
- Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, and communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively within a team and independently with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and attendance
- Ability to lift 30-40 kg
