**Position Overview**:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the American Sign Language (ASL) Translation Lead is responsible for translating English documents and videos into ASL as well as coordinating American Sign Language (ASL) instruction for APSEA. This role will:

- Translate English documents, communications, and videos into ASL.
- Provide translation of ASL videos into written English, to share with staff and the public as required.
- Work collaboratively with IT Services and other APSEA employees to research and promote innovative approaches to translation services.
- Coordinate and schedule ASL learning opportunities for APSEA employees.
- Provide ASL instruction for APSEA employees.

**Qualifications and Experience You Bring**:

- Lived experience/first voice perspective as a signing Deaf person is required.
- Native fluency in ASL.
- Deaf Interpreter (DI) or Eligible DI member of Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI) OR Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) or Eligible CDI with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
- Certified ASL Instructor.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience as an ASL Instructor.
- Minimum of three (3) years work experience as a Deaf Interpreter, or equivalent.
- Comfortable working in a virtual work environment.
- Comfortable using technology to support the development of ASL translation videos.
- Knowledge of regional sign language variations.
- Ability to maintain accuracy, paying close attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently with mínimal supervision and work collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Graduate of a Sign Language interpreter training program is considered an asset.
- University Degree is considered an asset.
- ** Occasional** travel may be required**: access to a reliable mode of transportation is required.
