**Chief Administrative Officer / CAO**:
**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality is seeking a motivated and energetic individual with municipal leadership experience to become its next Chief Administrative Officer.

As the fastest growing municipality in BC (128% growth from 2016-2021), this role provides the
opportunity to build a community and organization that is innovative, effective and efficient. Sun Peaks has a population of 1,500 year-round residents, and hosts on average 3,000 to 5,000 winter visitors and residents and some 1,000 to 3,000 daily summer visitors.

As the administrative leader of this dynamic community, the CAO advises and informs Council on the operations of the municipality and exercises the powers assigned pursuant to the Local Government Act, other relevant legislation/regulations, and implements the direction of Council.

The CAO must navigate a complex, multi-stakeholder environment and provides guidance and leadership to the management, staff, and contractors. The municipality is one of three key stakeholders; Sun Peaks Resort LLP as well as Tourism Sun Peaks and the municipality have a collaborative relationship in fulfilling the community’s vision.

The CAO is responsible for supporting development of Council’s Strategic Plan and for providing overall leadership to the municipality’s departments in delivering services and initiatives in support of Council’s objectives. This will include the development of corporate policy, programs, projects, communications, and operational procedures.

**ABOUT SUN PEAKS MOUNTAIN RESORT MUNICIPALITY**
Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality is a vibrant year-round mountain tourism community boasting world class skiing, mountain biking, skating rink, hiking and golf and a core tourist village with some 850 hotel beds.

At a base elevation of 1,255m the unique European inspired walkable village is located 45 minutes from Kamloops in British Columbia’s interior. The community has a unique ski-in/ski-out public school, medical centre, and numerous recreational facilities.

**KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Strategy**
- Supports the Mayor and Council by providing advice and options relative to proposed municipal initiatives. Integrating advice from staff, positions advocated by the community, objectives of Council, and the available resources.
- Works with Council in development of a Strategic Plan that charts a future vision of the municipality and needs of the community while respecting the Master Development Agreement.
- Leads the senior management team in developing operational objectives and strategies that support Council’s Strategic Plan.
- Recruits, develops, and leads an effective senior management team which is accountable for the daily operations of the municipality.
- Models a culture of respect, accountability, and customer service.
- Fulfills the role of Director, Emergency Management.

**Internal / External Stakeholder Relations**
- Informs the public regarding municipal operations and initiatives.
- Builds and maintains positive and productive employee-employer relationships with staff.
- Develops connections with Tourism Sun Peaks, its members, and Sun Peaks Resort LLP as the holder of the Master Development Agreement.

**Operations**
- Organizes, integrates, and evaluates the work of all municipal departments to ensure that operations and services comply with the policies and direction set by the Council and with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assesses community, business and resident needs and ensures objectives and priorities are focused on meeting those needs effectively, efficiently, and with high-quality municipal services.

**THE PERSON**
**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Engineering or a discipline related to municipal service delivery plus a minimum of five (5) years of senior administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of municipal leadership training is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Local Government Act and related statutes.
