**How You'll Perform the Role**
The Press Associate will take direction from the Lead Hand/Press Operator assisting in producing a quality product. The Associate/Helper ultimately provides assistance to the operator doing many tasks and through this process will gain the technical knowledge to progress to the position of Press Operator.
- Understand internal documentation i.e. SIS, Job specifications etc.,
- Document pounds on production sheet
- Preparation of roll labels, skid labels, QA sheets
- Ability to use core cutter, and having them ready at the press when needed
- Load and unload cylinders from cylinder racks and in and out of press
- Clean plates with solvent and understanding the proper use of solvents
- Proper handling of anilox rolls and their installation into press
- Cleaning and use of doctor blades, know how to set up and/or change doctor blades
- Proper set up of ink trays, ink buckets and ink pumps and cleaning of these
- Splicing film, roll to roll, in press at unwind
- Cutting off film at rewind
- Fill solvent cans
- Check viscosities
- Count rags on rag night
- Bring inks to press
- Weighing rolls & calculating impressions
- Proper skid handling and storage
- Assist with press wash up
- Put rolls on and take rolls off of the press
- Watch the web while running to ensure quality on a consistent basis
- Do quality checks to ensure job is correct
- Consistently check all roll pulls off press for non-conformity
- Maintain inks for job that is running
- Meet or exceed customer expectation in quality
- Treat schedule changes as a challenge not a hardship
- Follow all ISO procedures
- Ensure the Press is maintained and any maintenance issues brought to the attention of the Lead hand. Enter Maintenance Work Order if necessary
- Keep work area clean
- Assist on other presses when time permits
- Ensure good housekeeping by following set housekeeping procedures
- Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
- Adhere to all Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any non-conformities
- Attend all required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazards Analysis (HAACP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF)
- Other duties as assigned.
**What We Need From You**
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Experience in flexible packaging printing is an asset.
- Reliable attendance
- **Ability to work a rotating 8 hour shift (Mon-Fri Days, Afternoons, Nights)**:
- Work overtime as required
- Must work as a team player and show initiative in learning new tasks. Always approach any job in a healthy and safe manner
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
