In this role you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the distribution of blood components that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Receiving and storing blood and fractionation products and maintaining stock of distribution supplies in accordance with all Canadian Blood Services' Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices
- Ensuring safety of blood products through an ongoing monitoring of product and product storage equipment (temperature, humidity variations, etc.) as well as performing recalls and removing outdated products
- Issuing blood and related products to our customers such as Provincial Hospitals and other blood centers, and communicating with hospital team about orders placed as required
- Batching and packing orders by priority and time of delivery to ensure compliance within established parameters for time and temperature limits during transit

**Required Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong multi-tasking skills, work ethic and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external stakeholders in an effective and professional manner
- Ability work with others in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to work variable shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends
- Physical ability to perform duties of the position (stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and carry boxes/cartons)

**Additional Information**:
Works days, afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends including statutory holidays. Employees in this position are trained to be part of the pool of 6 Distribution LA's who are on-call for 1 week at a time Monday to Sunday, from 1800 - 0600, Monday to Friday and full days Saturday and Sunday for STAT washing or deglycerolization of rare RBCs or to backfill an evening or night solo shift sick call that can't be backfilled by other team members. 24/7 coverage to support our hospital customers is critical for Distribution operations.
Rest days: Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.
