About your team

As Legal Counsel you will be advising the organization at a group level with an emphasis on corporate finance and commercial matters.

About your role
- Advising the privacy and commercial teams on legal related global data privacy issues.
- Advising and proposing solutions on regulatory issues and requirements impacting commercial agreements and supplier relationships.
- Pro-actively seeking to improve the preparation and approval of corporate and commercial agreements.
- Providing legal support to the regulatory reporting team for filings and breaches and coordinating external counsel advisers.
- Advising on financing and treasury transactions, including bank facilities, debt capital markets issues, and other financing documents
- Providing legal support to the Bermuda headquarters and the companies incorporated there, including reviewing a wide variety of legal agreements on behalf of FIL Limited and its Bermuda subsidiaries
- Coaching and developing paralegal member of staff
- Providing legal support to FIL’s IP team including in relation to trademark and domain name use oversight, infringement actions, oppositions and licensing
- Supporting the shareholder administration team, including legal support for preparing transaction documents
- Supporting strategic Group legal and regulatory initiatives
- Mobilizing and leveraging resources across the organization to deliver change.
- Participating in industry-wide round-table discussions on relevant legal matters on behalf of Fidelity.
- Assisting with coordinating litigation and arbitration matters, including managing external legal counsel
- Evaluating Group legal policies and oversight procedures and implementing improvements in a collaborative environment

About you
- Law degree from an accredited institution and appropriate professional qualification (solicitor, barrister, attorney) with at least 5 years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house is mandatory
- High quality experience (in-house or in private practice) of legal issues and documents relating to corporate finance or financial services is essential.
- Required legal experience includes:
general corporate, commercial and financing matters asset management documents and transactions data protection issues some exposure to compliance and oversight issues some exposure to intellectual property issues
- Motivated attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks, strong organizational skills
- A self-starter and decision taker; open, confident and persuasive
