The initial focus will be on autism diagnostics in the preschool population that focuses on single diagnostician pathway (for children where autism core symptoms are most prominent). Collaboration with Shared-Care and Team-Based Multi-Disciplinary assessments will be planned depending on clinician comfort, geographical location, and background. The clinician(s) role will also be to guide care teams in championing a patient and family centered strengths based care approach.

Additional autism specific training including Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R), Rapid Interactive Screening Test for Autism in Toddlers (RITA-T) are assets but not essential.
Ability to develop clinical pathways, standards of care, and participate in quality improvement activities is welcomed.
**Program Information**: The Provincial Autism Strategy objectives include reducing diagnostic wait times for autism, and to increase the number of clinicians engaging in diagnostic autism work in Saskatchewan. Diagnosticians involved in the strategy pathways will provide needs-based diagnostic assessments for children with suspected autism, and will be supported by provincial allied health teams to support pre-assessment screening and sharing of collateral information. The involvement of physician diagnosticians within the SHA Provincial Autism Strategy follows SHA strategic roadmap priorities including enhancing interdisciplinary team-based care through health networks, providing seamless care as close to home as possible, and optimizing care flow of patients across the continuum of care.
