**POSITION: Community Health Ambassador - Ukrainian Speaking**
**WORK HOURS: 35 Hours/Week (some evenings and weekends)**
**RATE OF PAY: 26.00/Hour**
**EMPLOYMENT TERM: Contract Full time up to March 31st, 2024**

**DBNC** is an accredited, non-profit organization providing support services to residents of Mississauga including newcomers to Canada, youth, seniors, and families. **JOB SUMMARY**:
This position involves providing culturally specific community outreach, education, and information to promote awareness and safety about the COVID-19 pandemic, primary health care, and mental health. The focus will be on High Priority communities in East Mississauga.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Share COVID-19, primary, and mental health care information and resources with community members and local businesses.
- Inform and educate community members on public health measures, such as handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing.
- Organize events, and information sessions, and distribute resources through various channels.
- Dispel culturally specific myths and misinformation through targeted education sessions.
- Promote and educate the community about vaccination programs and other health initiatives.
- Engage with local businesses, community groups, religious organizations, and shelters to address concerns and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- Conduct virtual wellness checks on isolated community members.
- Establish and maintain community networks.
- Advocate for clients in need and refer them to appropriate resources and support.
- Distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) and rapid antigen kits to the community.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University degree in social work or college diploma in social services or related fields.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Experience in community mental health and/or community-based human services.
- Ability to work independently as part of a coordinated team, prioritize tasks, and meet program objectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet usage.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to handle tense situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships and work well in a team.
- Effective multitasking, deadline management, and adaptability to change.

**SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:

- Criminal record checks will be conducted on hire.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

**Salary**: $26.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- community/social work: 1 year (preferred)
- outreach and engagement: 1 year (preferred)
- sharing COVID-19 related information to community members: 1 year (preferred)
- organizing information sessions and distributing resources: 1 year (preferred)
- conducting virtual wellness checks on community members: 1 year (preferred)
