**Major Responsibilities**:

- Writes and edits creative copy for a variety of interactive media including the internet, intranet, social media, multimedia presentations, and other promotional tools.
- Ensures that content within the division's internet and intranet sites are integrated, accurate and current.
- Provides evaluation and analysis of web use statistics and client feedback.
- Assists in the development of marketing and communications strategies, including coordinated workplans and editorial schedules across multiple channels, including social media.
- Consults with business units and provides support to project teams to determine business unit information and web based service to identify solutions to meet business requirements. Develops, redesigns, and improves workflows, methodologies and processes for maintenance and development of quality information and content.
- Plans, executes and documents user interviews and usability tests.
- Creates and presents user personas, user experience scenarios and test cases.
- Develops, documents, implements and monitors adherence to web development and information management standards including style guides, metadata standards, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and other classifications systems for navigation or other categorization needs.
- Assists with the maintenance and development of content libraries consisting of information and design assets in the form of text, photography, graphics, video and audio.
- Ensures that content providers are trained in writing for the Web by setting standards. Develops, delivers and evaluates training programs and materials.
- Provides expertise in the development and support of new web based products and services as the division's information needs evolve.
- Ensures that legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g. the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Trade-marks Act and the Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).

**Key Qualifications**:

- University or College Degree in Communications, Information Management or Web Content Management, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using HTML, DHTML, XML, JSON, PHP, JavaScript, graphic formats, CSS, popular Web plug-ins, Web site authoring and management tools, including Web Content Management and related information repository and database environments.
- Experience similar to the Adobe Web Creative Suite tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, DreamWeaver, AfterEffects.
- Experience with managing, administering and supporting the use of collaboration software such as Sharepoint or Confluence

**You must also have**:

- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)'s requirements and standards applicable to information including the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).
- Knowledge of various government legislation, including Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, etc.
- Knowledge of technical, industry and professional records and information management standards, including national and international standards (e.g. ISO 15489).
- Knowledge working with Web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media.\
- Knowledge in formal and informal usability testing, user research and heuristic analysis, user scenario writing, documentation, test design and Quality Assurance scripting and translating user research into design decisions.
- Knowledge writing and editing content for the web.
- Knowledge with the implementation of web-based Document and Content Management Systems such as SharePoint or Open Text.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and assess priorities.
- Good knowledge of municipal governance policies.
- Hands-on team player adding value, the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities and provide instructional guidance to the team; a flexible and willing 'can do' attitude.
- Highly independent with the ability to work within tight deadlines, adapt to change, prioritize competing issues and manage diverse projects.
- Self-starter, capable of identifying the need for and taking independent action.
