The YMCA recognizes the critical importance of investing in the development of the spirit, mind and body of our children in order to build healthy communities.

The After School Program Staff will work in the YMCA’s Childcare Division, reporting to the After School Program Supervisor. The After School Program Staffwill be responsible for delivering a quality program at our off-site childcare program and adhering to all provincial regulations and requirements.

- **Key Responsibilities**:_
- Deliver play-based learning curriculum to children.
- Help plan, organize, and lead inclusive and diverse games, crafts, activities, field trips, and more for school-aged children
- Adhere to offsite childcare guidelines
- Engage in planned and spontaneous program activities with the children
- Help to plan curriculum weekly in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Nova Scotia Standards to foster maximum development for each child’s potential and growth
- Monitor and record individual children’s progress through daily observations and attendance
- Responsible for the physical, social, emotional, affective and cognitive development of the children in the program
- Maintain contact with all the children to meet their needs - security, protection, affection, discipline, stimulation, warmth and comfort; respect each child’s abilities and provide unconditional acceptance of the child
- Complete necessary trainings as they become available
- Other duties as assigned by After School Program Supervisor

- **Work Environment**:_
- This position deals with multiple demands, deadlines and dealing with the day-to-day interruptions.
- Work involves a moderate amount of physical, mental and visual demands.
- Occasional evenings for team trainings and meetings
- **Qualifications**:_
- Experience working in child care
- Maintain current first aid and CPR certification.
- Maintain a clean Criminal Record Check which includes a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Provide and maintain an up-to-date Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Attend Child Abuse Protocol Training and take YMCA’s online Child Abuse Training.

**Salary**: $19.67-$24.13 per hour
