**THE ROLE**
Over 250,000 readers in 16 communities rely on Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Newspapers to report on operations, Morale and Welfare programs and the community at large. CFB Halifax’ own newspaper - The Trident - is the primary source of information for the Maritime Forces Atlantic since 1966. The Trident newspaper has gone electronic with e-editions published bi-weekly

As a Journalist and Photographer for The Trident, you play an important role in collecting news through interviews, investigations and observation for our newspaper. You will be establishing working relationships with CAF members and colleagues to ensure accurate coverage of various events.

As a talented self-starter, you work independently with multi-media and can show your design expertise using desktop publishing software to organize the layout of the newspaper. The Journalist and Photographer will be conducting research, writing and reporting news for feature stories as well as taking photographs of events for publication.

**QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED** Education, Certifications and Licenses**

High school diploma AND several years of experience in journalism, communication or public relations

**Experience**

In collecting information through interviews, investigation, and observation

In writing feature stories for publication

In receiving, analyzing, and verifying copy

In operating a digital camera

In editing photos

**Competencies, Skills and Abilities**

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
