Warehouse and Counter Associate

As a plumbing and HVAC distributor - wholesaler owned by the Deschenes Group Inc., Desco is currently comprised of 17 locations and 3 showrooms with markets across Ontario.

We are currently looking for a **Warehouse and Counter Associate **to join Desco and be part of our dynamic team in Owen Sound, Ontario.

**Warehouse Responsibilities**
- Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule.
- Receive and process warehouse stock products.
- Loads company vehicles/trucks when all material is ready for delivery. Ensures all material is securely loaded for safe transport.
- Ensure that inventory is stored and protected from damage and readily available for shipment.
- Perform inventory controls and keep quality standards high for audits.
- Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
- Operate and maintain preventively warehouse vehicles and equipment.
- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.

**Counter Responsibilities**
- Serves customers by phone or in-person ensuring the customer’s order is entered accurately into the system.
- Answer pricing enquiries and stock checks. Provide technical information and product specifications.
- Coordinate delivery arrangements with the customer and monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
- Create and maintain product displays that engages customers and helps stimulate sales activity, keeping merchandise and counter areas clean and professional.
- Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
- Communicate promotional sale items as well as discounted slow moving and obsolete inventory.
- Proactive contact with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction and remain current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes and product developments.
- Perform various branch administration; billing; vendor returns, etc.
- Assists in annual physical inventory counts.

**WHAT YOU OFFER**
- Preferred 2-3 years related technical/sales experience in the Plumbing or HVAC industry, ideally within a wholesale distribution environment coupled with warehouse logistics experience,
- Certified forklift operator/ Willingness to get trained,
- Mechanical/technical aptitude,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
- Positive attitude and customer service oriented with a sense of urgency,
- Excellent organizational skills, and
- Computer literate; Basic MS Outlook, Word and Excel skills.
- Clean and valid G Driver's License with experience driving a 5 Tonne (24 ft) delivery vehicle - position may provide back-up assistance for deliveries approximately 5 weeks out of the year.
