The position of Construction Technician, also known as a 'Handyperson' is a skilled tradesperson completing jobs primarily in private homes with some commercial locations in Barrie and the surrounding areas. Most jobs are less than 3 days in length and frequently jobs change daily.

You are able to work on your own and without supervision. You are punctual and have good people skills. Enjoy working on a variety of projects while consistently delivering high quality work on schedule. Your strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.

Applicant must have experience and ability to make minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, plaster, painting, tiling, etc.). Relevant experience and owning your own tools is a requirement.

We are looking for someone who has/can:

- Experience and extremely comfortable with completing drywall repairs and painting.
- A proficient understanding of carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
- Comprehensive knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
- Knowledge of various methods and techniques of repairing and installing materials found within residential buildings.
- Experience with water leak investigation.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Familiarity with workplace safety and safe lifting procedures.
- Solving and communicating issues that arise, and changes to scope of work, tools/materials needed.
- Work well independently and as part of a team.

The requirements for this job include but are not limited to:

- Drywall repairs and painting.
- Performing minor repairs and adjustments, such as baseboard installation, adjusting door locks, closer and hinges, removal of damaged materials etc.
- Leak investigation and repair
- ability to source out cause or origin of water leak, fix if able to and then repair water damage after leak resolved.
- Cleaning of facilities including the front of the building, yards, steps, entrance hall, garbage pick up, removal of large garbage items and clean up of garbage rooms when required.
- Assist/accompany tradespeople when/if required.
- Other repairs and building maintenance as requested by clients.
- Ability to work from plans and specifications to meet estimated timelines.
- Responsible for constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structures like doors, windows, cabinets, and shelves.
- Fit and install trim items such as doors and hardware.
- Ensures work is completed to a high-quality.
- Kitchen & Bathroom cabinet and counter installation or repair.
- Handyman, general repair & maintenance work
- Fit and install windows, doors, and hardware
- Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, and other building materials using hand and power tools.
- Performing cleanups of job sites by clearing away all carpentry debris and waste.

**Nice to Haves**:

- **15+ years of Construction experience**:

- College Diploma or certification in a recognized carpentry program
- Tarion Home Warranty experience

**Must Haves**:

- **10+ years of construction experience**:

- Valid driver’s license
- Own Standard Hand Tools to perform carpentry/handyman tasks.
- Physically fit - able to perform physical labour daily.
- Capable of working unsupervised.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Skilled understanding of construction.
- Willing to learn new skills and work in a team environment.
- Dependable and motivated.
- Follow all safety rules.
- Punctual.

**Salary**: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
