Reporting to the Manager, School College Partnerships, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the dual credit program. Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening and are planned to be delivered in person at the Muskoka campus. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Delivers the HLTH1007 - Foundations for Success in Health Sciences course in the Dual Credit program
Students investigate current career opportunities in health care and related medical sciences and identify educational pathways leading to those careers. Students explore strategies to develop individualized plans that support their own ongoing personal, academic, and career success, including communication and professionalism in the workplace, personal health and well-being, stress and time management, learning styles and study skills, and goal setting. Students develop basic medical and anatomical terminology to support their studies in this program and beyond. Students research and describe trends and issues in Canadian health care, including Indigenous health care. Students examine personal and professional practices that support equity, diversity and inclusion.
** Muskoka campus (Bracebridge) Thursdays, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm February 13 - May 22 (excluding March 13)**
- Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluates student progress / achievement
- Participates in program and college activities as required
- Participates in program revisions and renewal activities as required
- Creates and maintains a positive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Completion of a 3 or 4-year degree in a healthcare related program area
- Three years’ experience teaching and/or working within the relevant field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
- Previous experience teaching high school aged youth is an asset
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
