**Position Description**:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor supervises the quality program for the portfolio of beers of the Great Western Brewing Company and is responsible for ensuring that beer has met all internal specifications and is of acceptable and consistent quality before it leaves the plant.

**Key responsibilities and requirements for the position include**:

- Operate within annual department budgets and capital budgets.
- Perform comprehensive chemical (analytical) microbiological and packaging analysis on each product at each and every stage of the process.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates all lab activities including the type and nature of testing to be done.
- Supervise, coach and mentor lab technicians.
- Assist in assuring compliance with appropriate regulations and standards.
- Perform miscellaneous assignments and special analysis at the request of the Senior Leadership
- Conduct quality oriented education training sessions.
- Investigate and troubleshoot all quality related issues for GWB and contract customers.

The Quality Assurance Supervisor will be responsible for all phases of testing during the brewing and packaging process; including raw materials, supervising the lab testing process including scheduling and training. The position will liaise with all areas of operation to ensure a coordinated response to brewing and packaging quality related issues.

**Organizational Structure**

The Quality Assurance Supervisor reports directly to the VP of Operations. The Corporate Quality Assurance Supervisor provides oversight and direction to unionized staff in the lab.

**Performance Objectives**
- Continually monitor the impact of changes in ingredients and processes on product quality.
- Mentor and maintain open communication with all staff
- Maintain relationships with co-packer contacts, employees, and all departments.
- Conduct monthly housekeeping audits.
- Assist with implementation of and maintenance of HACCP program.

**Measurement Criteria**
- Quality monitored by sensory panel, lab analytical and customer complaints and % of final product results in specification.
- Housekeeping audit % of compliance to plan.
- Hold system % of compliance, HLs dumped and number of holds.

**Qualifications**

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge skills and or ability required.
- Bachelor of Science degree with a major in microbiology plus 5 - 10 years of broad lab or analytical experience. A Certified Quality Auditor designation would be an asset.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the brewing process and process system management.
- Computer literate i.e., MS Office i.e., Word processing Excel, Power Point
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and /or weekends if required.
