To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring **Life Enrichment Worker.**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Life Enrichment Worker will enhance the quality of life for individuals in LOFT’s Supportive Housing for youth.

LOFT’s TAY Supportive Housing Services provide a variety of housing options to transitional age youth (16 -25 years), facing challenges which include mental health and/or addictions. Service is provided within LOFT owned houses/buildings or through head lease arrangements with private landlords.

We offer a range of programming that meets the level of support needs or unique challenges of specific populations. These include small group living arrangements for those requiring mínimal support, individual and shared accommodations, and staffed congregate settings for individuals needing daily support.

The Life Enrichment Worker plans, coordinates, implements, and directs recreational, educational or therapeutic activity programs that assist occupants/clients in maintaining and developing intellectual, physical, spiritual, social and recreational opportunities and, further assists in building interpersonal relationships and social skills. A significant portion of this work will focus on food security and education in relation to Youth health and wellness.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Support the development of a therapeutic program based on the relationship between food security and the health and well-being of transitional aged youth;
- Facilitate a range of assessments in relation to client participation and program development;
- Counsel and encourage clients to engage with holistic elements of programming.
- Educate participants on correlation between healthy meals and overall well-being;
- Coordination of meal prep/cooking workshops and community dinners;
- Develop partnerships with community food security initiatives and programs;
- Work to empower clients by building the foundational life skills necessary to sustain a healthy lifestyle and independence;
- Collaborate with project leads to ensure the client’s needs and preferences are respected and monitor each client’s progress as it relates to the client’s care plan;
- Identify areas of risk and recommend and/or take actions as appropriate;
- Co-create training objectives and requirements to ensure the on-going development and integration of the program;
- Maintaining accurate records and files on the provision of service to residents/clients;
- Recognize and communicate training needs of program;
- Undertake special projects and tasks as assigned;
- Work with clients’ supports to enable the beneficial impacts of the program;
- Integrate client’s cultural perspectives and lifestyle into all program work;

**WHAT YOU BRING**:
Must Haves
- Completion of degree and/or diploma in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with individuals who may be living with mental illness, addiction challenges and/or ongoing physical health issues.
- Knowledge and proven experience working with clients in a PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) approach.
- Group facilitation skills and experience
- Ability to organize and work with individuals and groups in the areas of assessment, program planning and problem solving.
- Ability to interact and engage with clients in a positive and supportive manner.
- Physically able to perform required duties.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Good oral and written skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with mínimal supervision with proven reliability and trustworthiness.

Nice-to-Haves
- Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) or College of Occupational Therapy Ontario (COTO) an asset
- Ability to communicate in a different language, an asset.
- Experience working with Transitional Aged Youth, an asset.
- Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework;
- Reflective of a multi-barriered group, as serviced by the program, a strong asset
