As our Packaging Specialist, you will manage packaging development from concept to delivery, working collaboratively to ensure our brand values are delivered through packaging design. As part of our Research & Development team, you will partner closely with Brand, Product Management, and Supply Chain teams to design, develop and bring packaging solutions to life. You have impeccable attention to detail and a natural affinity for problem solving and creativity.

Essential Functions
- New Product Packaging Design: Your key partners will be Product Innovation, R&D, Engineering, and Quality - using your resourcefulness, you will create a packaging solution that balances the needs of all departments to launch new products rapidly. Work closely with the Product Innovation team to ensure packaging briefs are fully understood and packaging is fit for purpose. Conduct testing to ensure feasibility.
- Packaging Continuous Improvement: Assess the ongoing manufacturability of products/packaging and identify and chase opportunities to continually improve efficiency, cost, and quality of our packaging solutions; support the engineering team with packaging-related manufacturing initiatives. Coordinate closely with the engineering team to improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.
- Supplier Partnership Development: Maintain a strong network with existing Suppliers and develop new Suppliers in conjunction with Product Innovation and Procurement. Keep abreast of packaging innovation, new solutions, sustainability/recyclability, regulations, and legislation - and bring appropriate opportunities to the team to advance our goals; maintain a capability and performance matrix in collaboration with Procurement for all packaging suppliers, collaboratively navigate challenges and implement appropriate solutions.

Your Brand, Your Story
- We already know you are passionate about materials management, but we want to know more about your story and experiences. You're good at the following:

- Post-secondary degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field with high relevance to manufacturing
- 5+ years’ leading packaging design, within fast-moving consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail branded products, and interface with the major retail customers.
- Practical experience and understanding of a broad range of packaging materials, processes, and manufacturing methods
- A good understanding of project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) to design packaging solutions and create renderings for both internal and external distribution
- Strong written and communication skills across all levels and strong ability to coordinate cross-functionally
- Understanding of packaging materials science as it relates to quality and manufacturability
- Good understanding of the business environment and the local, national, and global supply chain, preferably within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Phenomenal problem-solving capability
- Must have the ability to obtain and pass an RCMP Criminal Record Check and maintain security clearance.
