This position will be assigned a fall/winter rotation but teaching assignments may be changed by the Dean/Associate Dean and occur in any of the three semesters.
- Developing and delivering a wide variety of courses in our Child and Youth Care programs, including, but not limited to:
- Success in Human Services
- Child and Youth Care 1 & 2
- Child and Youth Development
- Field Placement Seminar
- Equity and Inclusion in CYC Practice
- Interactive Lab
- Evaluating student progress / achievement
- Creating and maintain a positive learning environment
- Incorporating a variety of learning / teaching strategies and technologies to meet student needs
- Participating in portfolio / academic / campus and college-wide activities as required
- Participating in course / curriculum revision, course / program revision and renewal activities
- Developing alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

- Masters degree in Child and Youth Care or related field;
- Current member (or eligible to register) with the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care (OACYC);
- Minimum five years of Child and Youth Care experience in a minimum of two different milieu (residential, community, education, and justice)
- Minimum five years related experience in one or more of the following areas: relational practice, strengths-based interventions, trauma informed practice with a focus on an ecological perspective, resiliency, community development and advocacy, child and youth care practice with families, child and youth human rights, and outdoor pedagogy;
- 3 years of experience in a teaching role (face-to-face and online modalities) and curriculum development at the post-secondary level, or equivalent experience as a facilitator in the field;
- Experience creating and facilitating experiential learning opportunities (ex. field placement, community-service learning, community engaged research and scholarship, social innovation, etc.)
- Extensive experience in working with children, youth and families experiencing complex needs of mental health challenges, behavioural issues and suicide risk assessment and treatment;
- Experience working with, and an intimate understanding of, issues impacting outcomes for systemically excluded populations;
- Proven commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization practice including knowledge and experience of working with diverse communities;
- The ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning
- Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in their students
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Asset / Preferred:

- Certified Child and Youth Practitioner and/or in progress
- Experience with outdoor pedagogy
- Experience with online course development and / or online teaching
- Experience in some or all of the following: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Computer literacy: Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and Student Information Systems
- The ability to teach in more than one program area
