**Position Objective**:
**Wolf Lake First Nation is a participant in the First Nations Guardians Initiative as part of a National Indigenous Leadership Initiative. WLFN commits to work towards guarding our culture and exercising our cultural responsibilities through the stewardship initiatives on our traditional lands and waters. The Indigenous Guardian positions plays an important role in asserting our rights and title, will monitor the freshwater, territorial and cultural resources within the WLFN traditional territory and the impacts of resource development.**

**Responsibilities and duties**:

- Conduct site visits throughout WLMN traditional territory; develop baseline data for Hunter’s Point area
- Review existing land use and occupancy data.
- Document cultural sites and monitor impacts.
- Engage with WLFN membership, and the community, to establish a working team and partners.
- Collect and record data, as required, create sampling program and voucher specimen collection.
- Develop inherent responsibility protocol.
- Work with WLFN membership to engage Elders and youth
- Educate WLFN members about Indigenous Guardian activities.
- Coordinate community follow up meetings for input and direction.
- Provide information workshops on traditional ecological knowledge, medicinal plants, endangered species, and findings on moose in our territory.


**Qualifications Knowledge and Experience**
- Strong knowledge of WLFN traditional territory and values
- Demonstrated boating, ATV, and snowmobiling experience
- Familiar with technology - GPS, radios, sat phones, etc.
- Mechanically inclined with in-board and out-board motor experience
- Knowledge of local freshwater bodies, and terrain

- Demonstrates a strong commitment to protecting the health of WLFN territory and culture
- Ability to work irregular work hours, including some weekends and overnight trips

**Salary**
- Commensurate to experience & determined upon hiring

**Certificate/Training Requirements**
- Valid driver’s license
- Criminal record check
- Drone experience and training would be an asset
- Wilderness First Aid
- Boating licence

**Salary**: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
