Take pride in achieving the ‘right quality product, delivered in the right quantity, to the right place, at the right time for the right price’? Our Procurement Specialist arranges component purchases for engineering design & build projects and customer product maintenance. Working closely with engineering design teams, you will understand the bill of materials specifying components, researches and manages key suppliers, negotiates purchase agreements, and ensures all materials meet company quality standards and timelines.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Working closely with engineering design and production teams:
- Understand the design/build project scope, technical requirements, timeline, and budget.
- Understand product assembly drawings, technical specifications and allowances to generate required bill of materials (BOMs).
- Research and source components, suppliers, and comparable alternatives based on quality, cost and availability.
- Determine the efficient timeline for materials delivery, shop space utilization, and inventory inflow/outflow to keep projects on track within time/cost budgets.
- Track engineering changes and update BOMs, and project budgets for cost/time impacts.
- Monitor supplier performance relative to service level agreements (SLA) and contract terms - promptly raise concerns for timely and satisfactory resolution.
- Alert project teams to supplier constraints impeding project and order delivery schedules.
- Monitor component quality results through the product assembly process.
- Continually look for ways to improve procurement workflow and documentation.
- Lead by behavioral example in your interactions with employees, customers and suppliers - with mutual respect, professionalism, responsive teamwork, and a focus on results for our customers and company.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in supply chain management, business, engineering, and/or manufacturing operations
- Supply Chain management accreditation is an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in procurement/supply chain management, preferably in fabrication, high mix low volume manufacturing and/or heavy equipment industries in North America.
- Naturally detailed oriented, with proven skills in data analysis & presentation, critical & analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative and work independently to complete deliverables
- Experienced and proficient working with Quickbooks and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
- Experienced with ERP tools for purchasing and inventory management
- Experience working with Solidworks or Autocad is an asset in this role
- Familiarity with global shipping and procurement practices
- Strong interpersonal and advanced written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Known for professionalism, initiative, collegial and responsive teamwork
