**Primary Purpose**

The AVP Student Affairs has leadership and complete oversight of the Student Affairs portfolio which is comprised of five units—Student Life; Support and Advising; Career Development; Health and Wellness; and Alumni Affairs—and a team of over 50 full-time/contract staff and over 350 student staff/volunteers. The department plays an integral role in providing enrichment and support services to all students throughout their academic careers.

Reporting to the Vice-President Academic, and working closely with the senior leadership team, the AVP Student Affairs will provide strategic leadership and overall direction to the development and delivery of a range of services that enhance student engagement and success.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- enrich the educational experience by providing learning opportunities that will engage students inside and outside of the classroom and develop the skills needed to be successful after graduation
- create and foster a supportive campus environment that is inviting, accessible, and reflective of the diversity of our students
- provide a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment that promotes academic success
- ensure effective management of the university’s policies, programs, and services related to student affairs
- ensure that aspects of the student experience and supporting infrastructure systems meet the strategic goals of the university and promote their achievement
- lead the strategic plan for student affairs, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic and academic plans
- foster cooperation between student affairs and all academic and service units
- ensure the cohesive and collaborative functioning of all units within the portfolio, optimizing communication within Student Affairs and the broader university community
- build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with student leaders and student organizations, ensuring their input in the design and delivery of programs

**Position Requirements**

**Competencies**:

- the ability to create and support an effective change management framework
- the ability to think globally to foster and support a strong international student body
- excellent communication skills to help build and develop productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other members of the senior team
- excellent understanding of international student needs

**Education and Experience**:

- Post graduate degree in a relevant field
- A proven track record of progressive and effective leadership in post-secondary institutions
- Experience introducing new initiatives, collaborating across administrative and academic units
- Experience managing a large professional staff, as well as significant assets and financial resources

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $160,000.00-$170,000.00 per year
