Temporary Speech and Language Pathologist

(April 2024 to March 2025 with the possibility of extension)

35 hours weekly

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,800 students in 17 schools located in Greater Sudbury, as well as in Killarney.

Our School Board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality Catholic education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning. The Board is currently seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team.

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides assessment and treatment of communication disorders for students with a variety of exceptionalities. The SLP facilitates the academic success of students through assessments, screenings, monitoring, and programming throughout the Board. The SLP is responsible for the overall implementation of speech and language services to support students experiencing speech and/or language difficulties in achieving success in an academic setting. They are also the deaf and hard of hearing contact person.

Essential Qualifications

**Education/Certification**:
Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology

**Required Knowledge/Experience**:
Strong working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Act, and the Rules and Regulations outlined by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)

Minimum of 2 years of recent related experience

Demonstrated experience in speech/language assessments and programming for all students, Kindergarten to grade 12 with a range of developmental issues

**Skills/Abilities**:
Excellent knowledge of available community agencies and resources

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to function effectively with administrators, staff, parents, students, outside agencies and others

Proven ability to be sensitive to the needs of exceptional students, and cultural differences

Highly motivated with the ability to show initiative

Proven ability to work under mínimal supervision, and within a multi-disciplinary team

Excellent discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Excellent leadership skills

Proficient in the use of technology including word processing software

Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills

Excellent organizational, time management skills and planning skills

Proven critical thinking and decision making skills

Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience in a school board setting is an asset

The salary range for this position is $82,407.00 to $102,994.00 annually and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
