La Spesa Food Market is looking for a Barista & Store Clerk with barista or bakery experience. You will be joining the team at 1700 St Clair Ave W. On the job training will be provided. Our store opens early so this position is required to open the store Mon-Friday at 6:45am and some Saturdays will be required. This is a full time position Mon-Fri 6:45am - 2:00pm, Sat 6:30-12pm.

**Job Duties**:

- Open store to be ready for daily operations
- Make coffees, breakfast sandwiches and cash out customers.
- Maintain inventory for coffee station and store
- Cut deli meat & cheese as per customer requests, maintain all deli & cheese by keeping inventory and tracking expiry
- Prepare baked goods, make sandwiches
- Engage and interact with customers to create a positive shopping experience
- Participate in all manner of store maintenance and cleanliness (sanitation)
- Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code
- Eagerly receive, understand, and communicate guest feedback
- Weighing, pricing, and packaging purchased items
- Managing inventory and requesting the purchase of stock
- Tracking expiry dates and making arrangements for close to expired products
- Becoming familiar with all store products and their locations in order to assist customers in locating items and explaining the value propositions of those items
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed.
- Participate in merchandising and promotional activities

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Must be a self starter and not need to be micro managed**:

- Knowledge of Spanish or Italian language would be advantageous
- Previous experience working in a bakery or deli or making sandwiches is required
- **Must have **genuine interest in food and interacting with guests
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Basic math skills
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the job such as lifting and carrying heavy items, climbing ladders, squatting, and standing for long periods of time
- Works with a sense of urgency
- Food handling experience
- Have (or be willing to take) Food Handlers Certification & Smart Serve - Required
- Advanced ability to multitask and follow instructions
- Ability to stay positive and calm under pressure

Start date : as soon as possible.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Apprenticeship

**Salary**: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
