**Position**: Innovated Child Care Worker (Full-time position, 40 hours per week)

**Position Description Summary**: Is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for children while promoting the development of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.

**Hours**: 40 hours per week; occasional weekend and evening availability

**Reporting Line**: Reports to the Program Manager

**Position Duties and Responsibilities**:

- 1) _Service Delivery_

a) Child Care Services - caring for children in a nurturing and safe environment.

b) Plan, implement, and supervise a variety of activities for the children.

c) Interact with the children, taking part in active play activities.

d) Attend to children’s personal needs
- 2) _Safety and Maintenance_

a) Ensure the safety and well-being of children, through supervision of activities.

b) Monitor the childcare area and ensuring toys, equipment, and furniture are safe. (Free of sharp edges, stable, non-swallowable sizes).

c) Replace bedding after every use.

d) Ensure cleanliness of playroom daily.

e) Wash and disinfect the toys, tables, and chairs on regular basis.
- 3) _Administration_

a) Maintain child statistics and forms, recording daily the arrival and departure times of the children.

b) Other duties as required.
- 4) _Internal and External Relations_

a) Provide verbal report to all parents (child’s activities/behaviors for time in daycare).

b) Monitor and provide direction for volunteers, students to the program, as required.

c) Administer first aid as needed.

i) Prepare Incident Forms when child requires first aid.

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledge: _
- Knowledge of "Learning Through Play" philosophy.
- Knowledge of child developmental stages.
- Knowledge of childhood diseases/health issues.
- Knowledge of activity programming.
- Skills: _
- Possess good interpersonal skills.
- Possess sound communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the Housing First Philosophy.
- Knowledge of the Trauma Informed Person-centred approach.
- Knowledge of the Harm-Reduction Philosophy.
- Education and Experience: _
- A combination of a relevant post-secondary degree and experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR Level C with AED Training required upon hire
- Current Criminal Record Check and Child and Youth Intervention Record Check

**Salary**: $21.63/hour
