The Supervisor Airfield & Fleet Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day airfield and fleet maintenance operations and programs at the Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) including supervision of the Airfield Maintenance Team which includes Airfield Maintenance Specialists, and Mechanics, as well as assigned Summer Students. This position holds key operational accountability for the safety, and efficiency of airside operations and maintenance.

**Duties**:
The Supervisor Airfield & Fleet Maintenance responsibilities will include the delivery of safety, quality service and operational readiness of the Airfield and Fleet as a key contribution to operational excellence. This person will develop, initiate, and oversee the Airfield and Fleet preventative maintenance programs; assist with capital project development and delivery within area of responsibility; and liaise with tenants to ensure a superior level of service is achieved and maintained. The Supervisor Airfield & Fleet Maintenance will ensure all safety system inspections and programs are conducted, and that regulatory/business compliance is maintained while ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the airport and its facilities. As a leader of this team and representative of management to your team you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers, peers, clients and staff members. The position will report directly to the Manager, Facilities.

**ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS**:

- The Supervisor plays an important role in the successful attainment of delivering the Corporate objectives of SAA, through coordination and organizing resources to accomplish the section’s goals. This depends on proven leadership qualities and the examples set both as a leader and worker.
- An effective work planner, a source of technical know-how and a skillful mediator between management (who set policies), and employees and their representatives.
- Work with Airfield Maintenance Team members, and through effective leadership develop and maintain a strong team to ensure that employees meet performance standards and develop their potential.
- Analyze and solve problems, establish and prioritize goals, motivate your employees, communicate candidly and tactfully, interpret information and draw on personal experience and insight regarding human behaviour when reaching decisions.
- Recommend solutions, prepare specifications and provisions for purchasing processes per SAA purchasing policy.
- Prepare annual work program, develop cost estimates and prepare formal budget submission. Conducts review of material requisitioning and authorize payment of invoices for materials received.
- Participate in the selection of new Airfield Maintenance Team recruits; prepare subsequent probationary recommendations and performance evaluation reports.
- Stay current on all regulations pertaining to airfield maintenance and fleet equipment
- Review, develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within area of responsibility, as required.
- Develop and deliver training to the Airfield Maintenance Team to ensure they are trained to the highest industry standards and can operate safely and efficiently in a complex airside environment.

**LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS**:
Inspect, plan, organize, develop, direct and supervise the Airfield Maintenance Team at the airport. Monitor the utilization and development of personnel resources.
- Supervise personnel in the performance of mobile equipment and surface maintenance works, establish work schedules and priorities.
- Promote first-class labour relations amongst employees, follow and adhere to corporate policies, collective bargaining agreement, and workplace legislation and regulations.
- Review all work practices, methods and procedures, to ensure good safety practices and ensuring compliance of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and other applicable legislation.
- Assess pending weather conditions and plan for responsive winter control operations. Optimize staff and material resources in an effective manner based on best practices and SAA protocols and policies.

**Specific Responsibilities**:
1. Assist in the delivery of quality service and operational integrity within the Airfield Maintenance area of responsibility:

- Implement and monitor the Airfield Maintenance departments budget to obtain optimum resource utilization.
- Investigate reoccurring equipment failures, deficiencies in operations and make recommendations to SAA Management.
- Participate in team planning reviews, advise on future mobile equipment and airfield surface asset requirements, and changes necessary to maintain an acceptable level of service.
- Be the first point of contact for Airfield Maintenance Emergency repairs, day to day maintenance and facilities calls, and dispatch Airfield Maintenance staff with respect to the same.
