Roofer Trainee

We are a growing, COR certified, construction company looking for a Roofer (trainee) (NOC 73110). This is a physically demanding job in fast paced environment, that also requires excellent oral and written communication skills. You need to be a reliable team player, who is willing to learn both roofing and cladding installation as well as health and safety management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools

Install sheet metal flashings

Install, repair or replace shingles, shakes and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings

Install, repair or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions

Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms

Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards

Ensure adherence to safety regulations

Work site environment:
At heights, Noisy, Dusty, Dangerous, Outdoors

Work setting: Commercial, Industrial, Institutional

Qualifications:
6 months of previous roofing and siding installation experience

Highschool diploma or equivalent

Current Yukon Health and Safety certificates, including Principles of Health and Safety Management, Health and Safety and Worker Safety Rep Training, and Worksite Investigation Basics

Current Fall Protection certification

Current Standard First Aid certification

Have completed CSTS 2020, including WHMIS

Valid driver’s license

This position is full time based out of Whitehorse, Yukon (not a camp position) and there is no housing or relocation assistance provided. You must already be eligible to work in Canada.

Wage is $28.00 per hour.
