**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:

- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major or minor in History is preferred
- awareness of and experience working with the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- proven ability to create hands-on, cross-curricular learning environments and activities that support engagement and motivation
- commitment to becoming involved and positively contributing to the culture of the school
- assisting with course selection and registration of International Students
- organize International Student Orientation Sessions and connecting students to our school community
- organize small and large-scale events for enriching the International Student experience
- connect with International Students and Homestay Families on a regular basis to ensure students are settling in well at school and at their homestay
- assist International Students throughout the year with any problems, questions, or concerns that may arise
- communicate regularly with International Students to ensure they are fully aware of extracurricular activities such as: clubs, sports teams, school dances, spirit weeksand to strongly encourage their participation
- advocate for the students and be the go between for the students and their classroom teachers
- promote International Student involvement at the activities that you organize
- monitor student progress, attendance, school involvement, concerns and any other relevant information that needs to be reported to the International Student Program administrator
