- CHALLENGES TO BE MET
- Against this background, BDC is looking for a passionate, committed individual, with Risk Management experience, to join the Environment mission’s initial pod. The core responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with the pilot team members and other stakeholders to assess risk management requirements in the build-out of a direct decarbonization loan product(s) and Sustainability Action Center (to inspire, educate and spur SMEs on climate action)-
- Recommend new product opportunities (both direct & indirect) to supplement capital deployment in the ecosystem and have maximum impact on BDC’s environment and climate aspirations-
- Assess potential risks, challenges and opportunities-
- Provide specific expertise to design product specifications, and design simple processes between BDC and its partners (including modeling and reporting requirements) that will meet the different stakeholders’ needs-
- Define end to end process for the programs (both direct & indirect)-
- Support the implementation of the new products-
- Work in an agile environment, by continuously reviewing the business needs, focussing on continuous improvement and identifying opportunities and risks based on evolving needs- The team will explore a variety of partnerships, products, and distribution approaches to determine the most effective way to jolt demand and support Canada’s SMEs on their climate journeys - helping abate the 30-40% of emissions directly attributable to SMEs.
- WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or a related field-
- Must have 3 - 10 years of experience in risk management, preferably with experience in structuring and delivering loan guarantees and/or other indirect products, full cycle, from program inception up to and including claim process-
- Understanding of risk management operations, including related credit management, modeling and business processes and related technology implications-
- Flexible and collaborative approach-
- Ability to challenge status quo to achieve targets-
- Creative and outside the box thinking skills-
- Ability to identify commonalities between solutions, while supporting customization suitable for each partnership-
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills-
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset-
