Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario is seeking to recruit a Clinical Molecular Geneticist to join the Division of Molecular Diagnostics as a Clinical Molecular Geneticist. The Division of Molecular Diagnostics includes Biochemical Genetics, Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics subspecialties. Members work with healthcare professionals to provide laboratory services to patients in London and Southwestern Ontario, a population exceeding 1.9 million. The Molecular Genetics Laboratory performs a wide range of molecular genetic testing for acquired and inherited diseases of children and adults. Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is affiliated with the Department of Pathology, Western University.

This position also includes a faculty appointment at Western University at a level commensurate with academic achievement.

Regular Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Qualifications**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Comprehensive review and interpretation of laboratory results in context of clinical patient data
- Comprehensive review of medical and scientific literature and other data sources to ensure accurate reporting
- Accurate interpretation and timely reporting of patient test results
- Assistance to Section Head /Division Head for guidance and direction to laboratory staff as necessary
- Interaction with referring clinicians as needed
- Maintenance of certification(s) through continuing medical education

Qualifications:

- PhD and/or MD in Human Genetics, or a closely-related field
- Certification or eligibility for certification in Molecular Genetics or Genetic and Genome Diagnostics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).
- Preference given to relevant clinical experience in molecular diagnostics.
- Collaborative team player with excellent and effective abilities in both oral and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills
- Highly developed critical thinking and analytical skills
- Experience in test development, validation, and implementation
- Demonstrated knowledge of & commitment to the principles of patient & family centered care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
