**Job Summary**:
The Nursery School Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Metcalfe Nursery School, a proud part of Rural Family Connections Inc.. Rural Family Connections Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation and a registered charity that supports families in the Ottawa area by providing accessible, integrated, and play-based early learning and childcare programs. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. Key responsibilities include managing staff, supporting staff, covering time off and breaks, ensuring compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, enriching the program through How Does Learning Happen? Pedagogy and fostering positive relationships with parents and the community.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership and Management**
- Recruit, train, and supervise Nursery School staff, providing ongoing professional development in alignment with Ontario’s early childhood education standards.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and open communication.
**Program Development**
- Design and implement age-appropriate educational programs that promote child development, incorporating the Ontario Curriculum for How Does Learning Happen?
- Ensure programs meet the needs of diverse learners and adhere to best practices in early childhood education.
**Administrative Responsibilities**
- Maintain the child information to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
- Oversee enrollment processes to facilitate smooth registration
- Oversee waitlist, admissions and withdrawals on CCRAW ensuring compliance with the City of Ottawa’s regulations
**Compliance and Safety**
- Maintain compliance with all provincial regulations, including the Child Care and Early Years Act, (CCEYA) regulations, City of Ottawa regulations and licensing requirements
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement emergency procedures to ensure the safety of children and staff.
**Parent and Community Engagement**
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on children’s progress and well-being.
- Organize parent meetings, workshops, and community events to promote engagement and support.
**Financial Management**
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation
**Quality Assurance**
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of education and care provided, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Prepare for and participate in inspections and assessments by local authorities and the Ministry of Education
**Qualifications**:
- Registered Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field an asset, or relevant experience
- Proven experience in a Managerial/Supervisory role within an Early childhood setting
- Strong knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry Regulations,
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector check within the last 6 months
- Up to date Standard CPR/First Aid (Level C)
**Skills**:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with computers and various databases
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google and able to adapt to new software programs
