**Summary of Position**:
The role of theInstrumentation Technician:
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for all aspects of the maintenance and proper operation of optical sorting machines.

The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible to maintain and improve all instrumentation, automation, and electrical components for the entire plant, with a specific focus on sorting systems.

This position will interface with Operations and Maintenance Teams, Engineering support, and equipment vendors to ensure that the plant instrumentation, automation and electrical equipment and systems are functioning correctly. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Clean and maintain optical sorting equipment
- Track all equipment spares, and spares usage
- Performing tuning and calibration on sorting units
- Perform repairs and upgrades on equipment as needed in compliance to current electrical codes.
- Assist with installing new or modifying the existing instrumentation, automation, and electrical equipment to improve plant operations as required
- Work remotely with technicians to tune and program new materials into the machines
- Monitor, audit, and document machines in operation to track performance and to identify problems, such as new or missed materials
- Become the optical sorting expert for ReVital Polymers
- Demonstrate ability to work safely.
- Perform inspections, execute preventative maintenance tasks, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support maintenance planning and scheduling activities, perform inspections, execute preventative maintenance tasks, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Make the necessary arrangement for the procurement of required parts/supplies and equipment in support of the scope of responsibility.
- Ensure that a high standard of data integrity is maintained in all aspects of the business.

**Skills/Abilities/Qualifications**

**Education**
- Electrical Engineer, Technologist, or Instrumentation Tech graduate
- Electrical Certificate of Qualification (309A or 442A) would be considered an asset

**Experience**
- Demonstrated technical expertise - minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in instrumentation and electrical tech work in an industrial plant environment.

**Knowledge/skills/abilities**
- Familiar with PC construction and repair; how to build a pc, how to install windows operating systems, how to troubleshoot PC hardware, networking, and software issues.
- Familiar with Ladder Logic Programming, RS Logix 500 and 5000 an asset
- Able to troubleshoot control wiring for PLC and Relay Logic Systems
- Able to read, and interpret P&IDs and Electrical Drawings
- Experience with Instrumentation such as Temperature Transmitters, RTDs, Thermocouples, Pressure Transmitters, Level Transmitters and Sensors (optical, pressure, ultrasonic, acoustic, float etc.), and flow, pressure, and temperature switches
- Familiar with, and have a working knowledge of, different types of Actuators, Control Valves, Positioners, Solenoid Valves, and Valve Manifolds
- Very strong computer and excel skills
- Comfortable getting hands ‘dirty’ in a plastics recycling environment
- Available for emergency call outs for plant control and instrument system issues during off duty hours.
- Available to work overtime
- Ability to work in a broad range of climate conditions.
