**Job Description**:
The Theatre Arts Department seeks an instructor for a total of 1.1 section (5.5 hours per week) for the second half of the Spring, 2023 semester beginning February 28th until April 6th. The position is for a Film & Television Acting Instructor for our fourth, fifth, and sixth term students, teaching acting techniques for camera. The course breakdown totaling 1.1 sections is as follows:

- 0.5 of a section for THEA 2210 Acting IV
- 0.2 of a section for THE 2240 Theatre Skills IV
- 0.2 of a section for THEA 3150 for Advanced Performance Skills I
- 0.2 of a section for THEA 3250 Advanced Performance Skills II

Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree or equivalent. In the absence of a Master’s Degree, the acceptable equivalency is:

- Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years practical professional experience
- Bachelor’s Degree plus one year conservatory training/apprentice ship plus three years practical professional experience
- 10 years practical professional experience
- Experience teaching acting for film & television at a post-secondary institution (minimum of 5 years’ experience is preferred)
- Knowledge of various acting for film & television techniques, language, and pedagogy for post-secondary acting students
- Knowledge of current acting for film & television material such as scripts and scenes
- Knowledge of modern acting material for film & television such as scripts and scenes
- Understanding of establishing and ensuring a safe and encouraging classroom setting
- Integrating a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) pedagogy in all material and instruction
- Excellent oral and written communications skills

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Level

The Film & Television Acting Instructor will teach THEA 3150 and 3250 - Advanced Performance Skills level 1 and 2. They will teach 5.5 hours of class time per week.

The overall work of teaching Acting for Film & Television at Studio 58 is focused on learning and establishing the techniques of acting for the camera by introducing students to the following concepts:

- tailoring acting for a smaller frame
- refining a sense of truthfulness in a performance
- practicing working moment to moment as it relates to text
- accessing your authentic self consistently
- concentration, relaxation, and centering
- memorization, cold-reading, and audition skills
- ability to adapt to the needs and style of each scene
- finding a natural quality
- learn how to contend with competition and comparison

Department Level

The Acting Instructor will be expected to participate in the following departmental duties as part of their contract:

- Maintain appropriate office hours to ensure availability for student consultation
- Must attend Department Meetings and assist with department duties
- Must attend Student Assessment Meetings and mark students according to college marking guideline
- Attend Departmental internal activities and special events if able
- Maintain collegial working relationships, actively contributing to the department and College
