The successful applicant will lead our Banquet Team in creating memorable experiences for our guests in our Banquet and Meeting spaces. This integral role requires an individual who can lead a team of Banquet Servers, Housepersons, and Bartenders and ensure high levels of customer service, presentation and team work. They will act as a liaison between the hotel, event conveners and Culinary Teams. This position will be of interest to an individual who is a self-starter in nature and who will be able to quickly make a difference to service levels by demonstrating a relentless desire to exceed guest expectations.

**What You Will Do**:

- Schedules staff to work functions
- Ensures functions are running on time
- Ensures the “day list” and “night list” are completed for each function, detailing all times for meals, room arrangements etc. These are completed for both servers and housemen
- Controls and maintains labour costs for department
- Improves employee morale and ensures staff present a professional image to guests
- Conducts annual performance appraisals
- Conducts monthly staff meetings
- Hires all staff for banquets
- Trains new staff on basics of position, assigns a “buddy” to learn detailed tasks of position
- Attends weekly food and beverage meetings to review upcoming events
- Reviews “functions sheets” to ensure details are correct
- Will field enquiries from sales departments regarding functions (number of people, room size, room arrangements)
- Will assist with room set-ups to determine whether room with allow for room arrangement requested by client
- May attend pre-conference calls for larger events to be introduced to and become familiar with convener
- On day of event will meet with convener and discuss details and timing of event
- Resolves any complaints conveners may have about the event, may offer incentives to help resolve the issue
- Completes and authorizes the “Billing Authorization Forms” for extra food or beverages ordered during an event
- After event, completion of invoice and billing of client for event, “Conference Report”, with copies sent to General Manager and Sales department, “Gratuities Sheet” for eligible staff
- Prior to event, review “Room Set-up Checklist” to ensure details of room set-up for each function is correct
- Ensures all “Change Forms” are received prior to events and changes are communicated to staff
- Completes daily labour report and submits to payroll
- Must be able to perform al duties of servers and housemen, as may be substitute in slower season
- Verify chits to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) ensuring accuracy of information
- Arranges all details for weddings at the resort, including contacting the client for dates, guest numbers, meals, etc.
- Updates the “Banquets Daily Pass on Book” including entries on various issues pertinent to staff. Ensures all staff sign off that they have read entries
- Coordinates and organizes annual New Year’s Eve dinner and party at the hotel, including decorations, room set-up, menu, staffing, timing, etc.
- Makes recommendations to improve the efficiency and quality of services and products provided by banquets
- Orders and maintains inventory for supplies in “amenity boxes”
- Orders all non-alcoholic beverages for banquets, bar and kitchen
- Perform other duties as assigned by General Manager

**Experience & Education Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Tourism and Hospitality or equivalent hotel experience an asset
- 2 - 5 years Food & Beverage Leadership experience in a hotel of similar size / volume
- Must have previous Banquet experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Passionate about guest service with an eye for detail
- Proficiency in computers and ability to work under pressure
- Positive and professional demeanor with proven track record
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Able to handle stress and work in fast paced environment
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to show initiative and handle problems without guidance
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts inclusive of evenings, weekend and holidays
