Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Mission, Canada Mission Montessori Academy Full time

Teacher Assistant is responsible for providing support to the classroom teacher for a group of children 12 months to 12 years of age. Mission Montessori Academy will employ Teacher Assistants to works under the supervision of classroom Teachers, Monday to Friday depending on classroom needs and financial availability. **Drive license Class 5 required**

**Minimum Qualifications**:
It is recommended, but not mandatory, that a Teacher's Assistant have a degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education Assistant and/ or Special Needs, and previous experience in working within these fields. A valid First Aid and Infant CPR certification are also required as well as a clear child abuse registry and criminal record check.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with children who may or may not have special needs between the ages of 4 months to 12 years
- Offer input into the design and implementation of individual program plans
- Assist in the classroom with activities related to the program
- Assist with the preparation of art and craft material as directed by the teaching staff
- Assist with gross motor activities (indoor and outdoor)
- Assist with the feeding programs as directed by the teaching staff
- Assist with language activities such as reading stories, using the flannel board, and puppets
- Share in the children's experiences during the day by being responsive and interested
- Assist and join in music and movement activities
- Be energetic, flexible, and present a positive attitude
- Exhibit positive and professional work habits such as punctuality, dependability, and confidentiality
