Production Line Worker

Must be able to work 44 hours per week (full time) 6 am start time. MUST be able to lift 55lbs on a consistent basis.

**JOB TITLE**: Production Line Worker

**DESCRIPTION**:
Reporting to the warehouse supervisor to gain knowledge on products and specialty mixes required for the day. Attention to detail. General understanding of manufacturing procedures to ensure the correct product is being packaged. Ensure that all the orders are accurate and correlate to the current order. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

**BASIC FUNCTIONS**:
To support the production of an efficient amount of product. A focus on a safe work environment. Attention to detail of “Quality” in order to meet Turtle Mountain / Baden Feed and supply customer expectations in a professional manner. You will be responsible for the following tasks:
Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators.
- Place products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Start machines or equipment to begin production processes.
- Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators of any malfunctions.
- Remove products, machine attachments, or waste material from machines.
- Lift finished products, manually.
- Transfer finished products, between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.
- Pack and store materials and products.
- Help production by performing duties, such as cleaning work areas and equipment.
- Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
- Measure the amount of products, and weights of filled containers to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Separate products according to weight, size, or materials used to produce them.
- Mark or tag identification on pallets.
- Dump materials such as prepared ingredients into machine hoppers prior to mixing.
- Mix ingredients according to specified procedures or formulas.
- Tie products for shipment, following prescribed procedures.
- Record information, such as the number of products, dates and times of product production, and record data obtained.
- Perform minor repairs items such as thread, cloth and lace through needles.
- Cut bags of material as required to finish the remaining product.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**:
You will be exposed to various weather conditions. It is required that you dress appropriately. You are required to wear PPE, such as CSA-approved safety shoes/boots. In designated areas hearing protection is required. There is mínimal dust within the facility which may require PPE dust masks. It is a requirement to lift and carry up to 25 kg for approximately 4 non-consecutive hours per day.

**SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:
Exposure to nuts, nut products and soy is required as they are included in our seed mixes.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The production line is responsible for collaborating with their Supervisor daily to manage Turtle Mountain Seed Co customer needs. The duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to the following:

- Configuring the mixing machine to the correct weight for the desired bag and product.
- Loading a bag into the machine to prepare for seed to be dispensed
- Verifying the weight of the bag is correct in accordance with the work order
- Sewing the bags closed by guiding it through the sewing machine.
- Lift the bag off the conveyor and place it on a skid.
- Cleaning out the mixer and set up of equipment, understanding scale setups for efficient production
- Track the number of bags per skid and the total skids required for the order.
- Knowledge in Health and safety awareness
- Grade 10 or equivalent education
- High attention to detail
- Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly over an 8-hour shift
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Other duties as assigned.
