**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks & Recreation Assets, the primary purpose of this position is the maintenance and repair of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations’ fleet and work with equipment. Work involves a variety of mechanical assignments, small engine repair, automotive repair and inspections, agriculture equipment repair, operation and maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery.

**Job Requirements**:

- Completion of high school or GED.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Class 1 Driver’s license with Air endorsement New Brunswick driver’s license would be considered an asset;
- Successful completion of Automotive Service Technician program or equivalent;
- Valid trade-specific licenses are required;
- Red seal automotive license would be considered an asset
- Experience with small engines & repairs
- Experience with tractor repairs & maintenance.
- Experience with Hoisting and lifting with a shop crane.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the mechanics trades.
- Knowledge of the safe use and maintenance of hand, power & air tools.
- Ability to manage and maintain a moving fleet and schedule required maintenance and keep service records.
- Ability to maintain and control parts and supplies inventory.
- Ability to work from sketches and plans
- Ability to interpret and implement Town policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and implement the NB Occupational Health & Safety Act and WorkSafe NB regulations.
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office;
- Criminal Record Check to meet Town standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs annual automotive inspections and repairs.
- Performs seasonal maintenance and prepare equipment for each season.
- Responsible for fleet maintenance scheduling for Parks, Recreation & Community Relations.
- Responsible for inventory management for parts and supplies for Parks, Recreation & Community

Relations.
- Responsible for the maintenance and storage of tools and equipment.
- Responsible for securing estimates for parts and materials required.
- Responsible for keeping records of purchases, repairs, inspections, etc.
- Ability to use welding equipment to complete equipment repair & small projects.
- Responsible for picking up vehicles & equipment that are to be repaired and return those after repairs are completed.
- Establish and maintain a good relationship with the public and co-workers with whom he/she comes in contact in the course of his/her duties.
- Any other duties that may be assigned.

**Shift, Hours of work**:
Incumbent may be required to work non-traditional hours including days, evenings, weekend, and holidays. The work may be carried out in various locations and/or Town Facilities.

**Wage and salary**:
This position is represented by CUPE Local 2162 with a rate of pay of $32.16 per hour.
